The Neighborhood:
Surrounded by the picturesque Darling Harbour, Goat Island and Mort Bay, Balmain East is a peaceful waterside suburb with a smattering of bars, restaurants and cafes along Darling Street. It has easy access to Sydney’s city centre via ferries departing from Balmain East Wharf, which is bordered by waterfront parks and reserves. It’s also a short drive from the cosmopolitan dining, boutiques and lively bar scene in Balmain.

Public transport
The Balmain East Wharf ferry terminal is about 550 metres away and has regular ferries to Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and Balmain. There are multiple bus stops along Darling Street with the line 442 servicing the surrounding suburbs and accessing the Sydney CBD in about 25 minutes.

Ride sharing
Ride sharing apps are a safe and easy way to get around, especially late at night when public transport services are less frequent. Prices are about two-thirds of a taxi, but may surge during bad weather or public events.

- The internal stairs are narrow, steep and twisty and there is no handrail.
