44 Campbell Street is a delightful weatherboard home built in 1881, purchased by the current owners, Annie and John (Balmain resident of 45+ years), in 1998 and subsequently renovated. The renovations included the upgrading of an existing artist's garden studio which is the accommodation now offered.
We have been operating Studio 44 as a B&B since Christmas 2015 and have many satisfied and regular guests. We listed with HomeAway/StayZ/Vrbo in 2017
The studio is situated at the rear of the property and has its own outdoor, sunny sitting area and large ( by Balmain standards ) shared garden. It has separate access from the street and OFF STREET PARKING is available by prior arrangement.
The studio/cottage is equipped with reverse cycle air conditioning, column heater, internet (incl wi-fi), Smart TV (free to air) and DVD player (incl a selection of movies)
There is a microwave oven, toaster, bar fridge and other appliances to make your stay comfortable. PLEASE NOTE - we provide ingredients ( coffee, teas, cereals, milk, yogurt, bread, butter, condiments etc ) so that you can prepare your own breakfast and will replace them upon request. Many guests like having breakfast at one of the many nearby restaurants or provide their own to suit special dietary requirements.
The garden is secure and suitable for children and pets.
Ferries connecting to the city and to Parramatta & Cockatoo Island are within a short walk at the Balmain (Thames Street) wharf and help make Studio 44 a great base for exploring Sydney Harbour and the city.
Buses to the city leave from Gladstone Park at the top of our street. Balmain village complete with numerous restaurants, pubs, shops and a Woolworths supermarket is only a leisurely stroll away.
Many guests take the opportunity to explore historic Balmain while staying with us and we provide a detailed map of suitable walks.
Our preferred minimum stay is two nights however, we may be able to accommodate a single night stay subject to negotiation.
Standard check out time is 10 am and check in 2.00 pm however, this can be varied if the studio is not occupied before or after you arrive.
