About This Attraction

Chowder Bay, named after whalers who made "chowder" from the bay's abundant seafood, is a great place to relax. Enjoy an afternoon on the beach, or grab a meal at one of the cafes and restaurant by the harbour, wander around the complex of historic buildings or if you're feeling energetic take a walk up the bush track to the beautiful Georges Heights lookout. A great way to visit Chowder Bay is to incorporate it into a walk from Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach. As well as the charming maritime village of historic buildings and natural bushland setting, Chowder Bay also offers a beautiful beach ideal for swimming. Chowder Bay is a few minutes' drive from Mosman and 20 minutes to Sydney's central business district. Car parking is available, as well as a direct bus service to the city and a public jetty.
