Sentosa - family beach house on Scotland Island

Our much loved family beach house is nestled in a lovely, peaceful bay on the northeast corner of Scotland Island. It is absolute Pittwater waterfront with jetty, beach and boathouse. It has three adult bedrooms with queen size beds, a bunkroom for six with attached rumpus and a huge light-filled kitchen/dining/living area that fronts onto a deck with panoramic views across Pittwater from Newport and Clareville to Palm Beach and the Central Coast. It backs onto a sheltered deck shaded by gums, with gorgeous bushland views.

This could be your perfect family holiday or weekend away. Kids will love swimming at their own private beach, fishing off their own jetty or diving from the pontoon. They will encounter native birds and animals and abundant sea life, wander the foreshore at low tide, bushwalk in the island reserve or take a short ferry ride to the walking/biking trails of Ku-ring-gai National Park. The bunkroom and rumpus are stocked with toys, books, games and DVDs, the rumpus TV has kids’ DVDs.

Sentosa has multiple entertaining areas - lunch on the front deck as the racing yachts set their spinnakers below, barbecue on the back deck amidst the trees and native birds, lounge by the boathouse with an afternoon cocktail or gaze at the stars from a bean bag on the pontoon. In winter curl up next to the enclosed fireplace with a book, music or Chromecast.

All the adult bedrooms have huge windows or sliding doors onto decks and extraordinary views over one of Australia's most beautiful waterways. Watch the sunrise from your bed and later see the moon over Pittwater turning the spotted gums to silver.

The modern kitchen is well equipped with appliances including a De Longhi coffee maker. The house is set up for easy relaxation and enjoyment.

It's hard to believe this Island paradise is only 50 minutes drive from Sydney CBD, and is served by regular buses to Manly and the city - including express buses. Commute to work or better yet invite friends for lunch by the water. The surf beaches of Mona Vale and Newport are a few minutes drive, a little further takes you to the cafes and restaurants of Avalon and Palm Beach.

Every form of sport and leisure is available on the Northern Beaches - hire a yacht and learn to sail from one of the many schools/yacht clubs, rent sea kayaks, play golf or tennis across the water at Bayview. Or stroll around the island - dirt roads and only a handful of cars.

Scotland Island is only accessible by water. There is a ferry to the Island from Church Point. Tennis, the nearest wharf, is a 5 minute walk from Sentosa. A water taxi from Church Point or other Pittwater wharves will drop off at Sentosa jetty by arrangement, or hire a boat for the week and explore the magical bays and beaches of Pittwater. There is a paid public car park at Church Point.

There are no shops on the Island so bring everything with you, or contact the local delivery service to arrange for supermarket items/fresh fruit and vegetables to be delivered to your door.

Sentosa is on a quiet bay, with lovely neighbours. It is ideal for families. It isn't suitable for students, bucks or hens weekends. The island has no mains water and operates on rainwater collection and septic. So 6 adults maximum. 7 night minimum booking during NSW school holidays.
